Keynote: Kathrin Pabst
Åland has a unique history, including both self-regulation and strong relations to the mainland. The culture and people are, among others, characterized by old and new impulses, constantly changing and at the same time somehow stable. In this speech, findings from “Identity on the Line,” a large scale European cooperation project about migration, identity, longing and belonging, will be presented – and used as a starting point to illustrate the benefits and pitfalls of “egensinne” for museums and their communities.
